Joyce Newsom

June 28, 1949 - July 23, 2020

Joyce Marie Newsom was born in Columbia, Mississippi on June 28, 1949 to her proud parents Roosevelt Walk Sr. and Henrietta Walk. She confessed Christ at an early age uniting with the Church of God In Christ where she was baptized at an early age. She received her education at John J. Jefferson High School. She later met Loniell Newsom in Columbia, Mississippi and they were married on November 27, 1966. From that union 4 children were born, 2 sons: Loniell Newsom, Jr. and Rodney Newsom and 2 daughters: Edna Newsom and Kathy Newsom all of Oakland, California. Joyce departed this life on July 23, 2020 and was preceded in death by her parents; Roosevelt Sr. and Henrietta Walk, husband; Loniell Newsom, Sr., her son; Loniell Newsom, Jr., and her siblings; Roosevelt Walk, Jr., and Jimmy L. Walk. Joyce leaves to cherish her precious memories: her children; Edna Newsom (David), Kathy Newsom, Rodney Newsom (LaShaun) all of Oakland, California, her siblings; Anthony Walk (Clarice) of Stockton, California and Ethel Thomas (Renard Sr.) of Red Oak, Texas and her grandchildren; Mamie Smith (Marco), Charles Smith III, Eddie Evans, Leland Carr, Davin Price, Janae Newsom, Lashae Newsom, Lontronae Newsom, Thomas Jackson Jr. Jelonie Jackson, Jamal Jackson, Rodney Newsom, Jr., 14 great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and other loving relatives and friends.
